A case of primary Hodgkin¢¥s sarcoma of small intestine accompanying intussusception and complicating panperitonitis

Abstract
The Hodgkin¢¥s sarcoma of the small intestine is usually secondary_ to the widely disseminated Hodgkin¢¥s disease. Primary lesions in the small intestine are few in .comparison and the diagnosis can ordinarily be made only after the tumor has been resected. A patient with panperitonitis due to ileal perforation was operated upon and biopsy showed primary Hodgkin¢¥s sarcoma of ileum accompanying intussusception. The histologic type of the sarcoma was lymphocyte predominance according to Lukes and Butler. Previously the patient had never any symptoms indicating tumor of small intestine. Primary malignant tumors of the small intestine should always be considered as probable cause of surgical conditions of small intestine.
